Prophylactic antibiotic in dental implant failures

A systematic review and meta-analysis was done to show the prophylactic antibiotics routines in dental failure. The authors Braun RS, Chambrone L, Khouly I, examined the specific regimens for the prevention of dental implant failures. In these 8 random controlled trials 2,869 implants were placed in 1,585 patients. The meta-analysis results showed that the antibiotic prophylaxis resulted in a notably lower number of implant failures compared to no antibiotics. Though the authors saw that the meta-analysis showed reduced implant failure, the results were not statistically significant.
